testing the energy efficiency of the souvenirs at our open house

an open house was held in the feng xiang production plant on 5th december, 2012. the purpose of this activity was to show the public our new plant, new products, and new technologies. market realities underscore the increasing importance of energy efficiency in injection molding machines. it is no surprise, therefore, that chen de is dedicating time and talent to developing and applying new energy-saving technology.
responding to these needs, we have developed a new generation of servo drives. the svp series, developed in 2011, was selected as one of the outstanding new products introduced that year from the standpoint of energy saving design.  at the same time, it was also listed in the ministry of industrial information technology’s “a” category of energy saving products, recommended for use by other chinese manufacturers.
during the open house we gave souvenirs, including beautiful crystal cups, to our friends and colleagues. how much energy, we wandered, was used to produce the crystal cups?  our colleagues in the technical department took this as an opportunity to test and compare the energy consumption of different power systems.
1. purpose of the test
to find out how much energy is saved by a variable pump system and a servo drive system compared to a fixed pump system
test product: crystal cup
material: polystyrene (ps) (see figure)

2. machine description
a. machine no.  rk39027-569982
b. model:  em150svp/2, em150-v, cj150-m3
c. configuration: clamping force 150t,
- for em150svp/2, with second generation servo drive system svp/2
- for em150-v, with piston-type variable pump
- for em150-m3, with gear-type fixed pump

3. venue
r&d workshop of the chen de plastics machinery co., ltd. (see figure)


4. testing environment
a. ps: density 1.05g/cm3, material temperature 20ºc;
b. environmental temperature: approximately 18-22ºc;
c. pre-heating and adjustment to imm, mold temperature control device, and mold till all were ready

5. testing method
a. take 30 shots continuously;
b. take the energy consumption reading, the unit was kwh;
c. weigh the molded parts and runner after cool down, the unit was kg;

6. testing equipment
a. electronic balance: model: acs-6c, accuracy: 1g;
b. power measuring apparatus: model: 8910b, accuracy: 0.5;
c. power meter: 100a 3ph power meter

9. conclusion
as the results above show, compared to cj150-m3 & em150-v, the energy saved by using em150svp/2 for molding the crystal cup with 30 shots was 74.67% & 84.35% respectively.
